RecreACTIVE

Recreational Respite is excited to offer community based therapeutic recreation programs that we call, RecreACTIVE. Our team has the ability to help individualize the goals and objectives for each participant, while creating a unique ‘leisure and learn’ model that proves both recreational and educational benefits in a supportive and creative environment. Our goal is to improve and enhance the quality of life for any individual with cognitive impairment (memory or acquired), physical challenges or developmental disability.

Why RecreACTIVE?
For many individuals, our program creates a unique opportunity to engage in a small group setting where others with similar impairment or challenge and within close age groups, can come together to develop new interests and skills, increase abilities, promote self worth and role, peer to peer support and continue to be actively engaged in their community.

This model is effective for:

  • Short term community engagement (in small increments) if full day participation in an adult day program or other, is not suitable to the individual’s immediate needs
  • Ideal for slow community integration if the individual has become isolated due to health concerns or challenges
  • Empowers care givers (either family members or other support workers) with effective therapeutic recreation tools and techniques, to utilize in a home setting
