Just for Kids!

Play is one of a young child’s most powerful cognitive and social learning tools. Building these skills in young children with a disability will maximize their capacity for positive interactions and overall recreational and social engagement.

Our Just for Kids program involves the design and implementation of therapeutic recreation programs that can contribute greatly to a child’s growth and help with a variety of social, motor, physical and cognitive skills. Therapeutic recreation can offer a beneficial extension of traditional therapy services involving the child, their parents or care givers (creating a family centered approach). Our team will identify the specific goals and objectives specifically beneficial to the child’s needs and create a program that will encourage positive participation at home, school and in the community.

Our program supports children who are 5-18 years of age and are living with (but not limited to):

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Down Syndrome
  • Williams Syndrome
  • Acquired brain injury
  • Learning disabilities
  • Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Mitochondrial Disease

What are the benefits of therapeutic recreation for children (and their families) with special needs?

  • Stronger social skills
  • Reduced anxiety in an individual or group setting
  • Enhanced physical abilities
  • Life-long leisure skills
  • Healthy active lifestyles
  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Increased independence
  • Improved quality of life
  • Self control

If families are awaiting long term options or wait lists, our program and services are a great fit to ensure either short or long term solutions.
