The Disability Dreams Group (DDG) www.disabilitydreams.ca was conceived by founder David after many years of dealing with his own son’s challenges, in particular a severe learning disability. Like most parents, he was not comfortable with the “disabled” label, but was willing to set that aside when it meant significant tax relief for his family. This prompted an exhaustive investigative search to identify all of the opportunities available to help him provide and plan for his son’s future. David’s extensive background in income taxes and investment planning has provided the perfect structural base for the birth of the Disability Dreams Group. (more…)

Did you know that Recreational Respite offers a service called RecRider- a truly different kind of transportation program.  The focus of the program is to ensure that those individuals who otherwise would not be able to continue participation throughout the community, attend programs on a regular basis such as: day programs, recreation programs, community living and general interest and support groups.  This program is for those individuals who have any form of cognitive impairment, physical challenges and developmental diversities and is operated by our own team members to assist with community integration (or re-integration).  For more information, please contact recrider@recrespite.com or call 905-813-0336.

Alzheimer Society Peel is providing an innovative new program for health care providers and individuals affected by Alzheimer disease and related dementias.

The program, FIRST LINK, is a free referral program that will link individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia to a community of learning, services and support. The process begins with a primary health care practitioner or community service agency referring a newly diagnosed or an already diagnosed patient to FIRST LINK. (more…)
