We are excited to partner with the Down Syndrome Association of Simcoe to offer 10 weeks of full day programming that offer a variety of experiences in several diverse activities that will give the participants an opportunity to practice and improve their social skills and self esteem as well as many important life skills. The activities include: yoga and meditation, health and lifestyle choices, gross motor skills, meal preparation, math, music, arts, science, and literacy learning activities.

LEGO Builder’s with Autism Ontario/Simcoe

RecreACTIVE LEGO Builder’s program, there is an opportunity to improve social skills and play skills. Playing with these building blocks, offer a highly routine, repetitive, structured form of play. During our play therapy sessions, our group activities will be designed around the use of LEGO to help children gain skills in both verbal and non-verbal communication, sharing, turn taking, collaboration, and other social skills.LEGO Builder’s flyer

Gamer’s for Boys with Autism Ontario/Simcoe
This cool program was developed by our RecreACTIVE team to create a unique Gamer’s program for young boys with Autism (9-12 years of age). This program works on the goals of self efficacy building, stress management, team building, focus, concentration, social awareness and mind/body connect.

Teen Tuesdays! with Children’s Treatment Network/LARC
In partnership with LARC (Leisure, Recreation, Arts and Culture) and Children`s Treatment Network (Collingwood, ON) we have created a social night for teens with special needs that will include a number of social programs with our skilled Recreation Therapists to ensure a fun and successful evening once a week, for these awesome teens!

Rhythm Round Circle

The program was aimed at providing an opportunity for creative expression and movement, using music, rhythm and movement. This program encouraged and inspired participants to partake in a variety of rhythmical patterns and sequences using a variety of traditional and non-traditional musical instruments, for both physical and mental stimulation.
